The Application Process
Applications can be picked up Monday - Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm. To ensure that your application is processed in a timely manner we must insist that your application is filled in completely, including: employment history, education, and references.
Once your application is submitted to the local union, it will be reviewed by the Business Manager or his designee. You will be notified within five (5) working days if more information is needed.
With a minimum of ten (10) years experience, an applicant may be sworn in as a Journeyman Wireman immediately.
With a minimum of five (5) years experience, an applicant will be referred to the Examining Board for the Journeyman Wireman Examination. The examination will be given on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Local Union 136.
If you pass the Journeyman Wireman examination, you will receive Journeyman Wireman Classification and be sworn in as a member.
If you make less that 70% on the Journeyman Wireman examination, you will be referred to the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) for evaluation as an intermediate Journeyman and receive upgrade training towards obtaining Journeyman's skill level and Journeyman Wireman's Classification.

All new members will recieve an orientation which will cover wages, insurance, pensions, referral procedures, etc.
